The Summit Pittsburgh hosted 23 adventurous diners for its first-ever Harvest Dinner on the Pod, held at the Patrick T. Fagan Overlook atop Mt. Washington. Executed by Fame15 Creative, fall blooms, mini pumpkins, and dimly lit candles decorated the al fresco tables where guests took in a breathtaking view of the city, highlighted by an incredible sunset, and savored Chef Brandon Davis’ seasonal cuisine. The culinary experience featured seven courses, all complemented by creative and locally focused beer, wine, and cocktail pairings, plus a delectable surprise from the chef: an off-menu, melt-in-your-mouth foie gras burger that satisfied guests between courses! Other stunners from Davis included: homemade headcheese with pickled chanterelles, smoked sauerkraut, and huckleberry coulis; a cocktail comprised of cucumber-infused Wigle Ginever, Chartreuse, lemon, lime, and a bouquet of fresh herbs; mole elk loin with cactus, corn, and poblano pepper salad atop a smoked acorn squash purée; and a sweet espresso night cap mixed with chai, whiskey, macadamia nut, and maple whipped cream. The unique dining event spurred great conversation amongst guests and for the final feel-good touch of the evening, a portion of the proceeds from the decadent meal benefited the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
